The SFA Is Going Back To School This September – And You Can Join Us!

Gretchen Vanesselstyn
On September 24, the Specialty Food Association will present our most popular and long-standing education program, The Basics: The Business of Specialty Food, at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. This all-day program, which includes breakfast, lunch, and a closing reception, is your chance to immerse yourself in a deep dive into the fundamentals of running a specialty food business.

Whether you’re just thinking about getting started or you’re already running a business, I know you’ll learn something that will help you make better products, sell more items to more markets, and forge better relationships in the business.

How do I know that? I read the evaluations. We run The Basics program at every Fancy Food Show and every single time I get notes from manufacturers like you who tell me that they weren’t sure they needed The Basics, but they came anyway. Then they realized a key mistake they’d been making. They met someone who turned into a mentor for them. They got inspired to try a new trade promotion. And everything changed, for the better.
A big part of the magic of The Basics is our faculty. In Philly, you’ll meet folks like Jonathan Milo Leal of Milo’s Whole World; Victoria Ho of EatPops and Popsalot; Sagar Shah of Nature’s Guru; Ian Kelleher of Peeled Snacks; along with local experts Bill Mignucci Jr. from DiBruno Bros. and Food Marketing Professor George Latella of St. Joseph’s University. Our Basics teachers are SFA members – successful manufacturers, co-packers, sales directors, marketing leads, owners of thriving companies – who want to give back to the community that has helped them along the way.

Come back to school in Philadelphia with SFA and reap the rewards for your business. Check out the full program and sign up here. Questions? My in-box is always open:
